Summary: The complete construction of an Infrastructure Roads and Services network for a community of nearly 2000 new homes. One unique feature of this development was a requirement that all major distributor roads were complete and fully landscaped before house building work commenced.
Scope of Works:
Natta was initially appointed enabling works contractor to provide access
to various parts of the site to facilitate the grounding of unsightly HV transmission
lines and the removal of pylons. Following the successful completion of those
operations the company tendered and was appointed civil engineering contractor
for the following 3 phases finally completing the works in 2006.
Specific areas of involvement are summarised below:-
Bulk earthworks and filling.
Well point dewatering to large sections of peat bog and deep drainage.
Laying approximately 3 kilometres of water main and associated serves.
The creation of Turners Pond together with timber footbridge, spillways
and landscaping.
Building a number of swales and water courses.
Numerous Precast concrete box culverts to divert existing water courses.
The construction of three reptile hibernacula's.
The provision of all roads, footpaths and cycle ways.
Specialist protection works to a number of existing foul rising main
which crossed through the site.
Sheet piled abutments and the construction of a new bridge spanning
the local river.
The laying of thousands of metres of storm and foul water drainage
together with associated pumping stations and rising mains.
Street lighting, road markings and street furniture.
Bridge parapets.
Feature brickwork curved entrance walls inlaid with natural stone lettering.
Extensive hard and soft landscaping.
