Summary: Our contract comprised all associated ground works for a number of new housing, teaching and administration buildings on the Immigration Removal Centre, that was built as a Category B prison with a holding capacity of 313.

Scope of Works: Working closely with our Client, we successfully completed the drainage, foundations and external works for the Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre. The facility provided 313 places and included short term stay facilities. The structure comprised pre-cast panels mounted on reinforcement starter bars cast in to our substructure with small positional tolerance.

Our work included:-

• Bulk muck shift to level site and placing of piling mat to all building areas.
• Removal of contaminated 'hot spots'.
• Installing sheet pile protection around trunk sewer prior to piling operations.
• Installation of fully tanked car park with permeable paving bays.
• Concrete foundations including locator bars for the precast walls put in to 5mm tolerance.
• Installation of large corrugated storm water retention system.
• Installation of fibreglass hydrant tanks, 3m into the ground, inside fully supported sheet piled temporary works.
• Connection into existing foul water main and creation on storm water drainage swale into river with associated petrol interceptor.
• Installation of numerous service ducts throughout site.
• Kerbing and preparation for all roads and paved areas.
• Preparation for landscaping including topsoiling and tree pit excavation with ancillary drainage.
