Summary: To prevent further coastal erosion Hampshire County Council embarked on the upgrading of the existing sea defences on the foreshore at Lepe Country Park. The site was a protected SSSI area and work had to be completed before the new breeding season for shore and marshland birds.
Scope of Works:
As Main Contractor Natta were responsible for the site clearance, driven sheet,
and H piles, reinforced concrete curved section sea wall, revetment blocks
and reinstatement of adjoining roads and footpaths. Particular care had to
be taken during piling operations as the HV feed to the Isle of Wight passed
under the location of the new sea wall.
Specific areas of involvement are summarised below:-
Site clearance.
Sheet and H piling.
RC Foundations and curved retaining walls.
Revetment block work.
Reconstruction of access roads and footpaths.
Tar macadam surfacing .
Street lighting, road markings and signage.
Hard landscaping and top soiling.
